NT: NT Opposition calls for return of NT's first train from SA

DARWIN, Jan 15 AAP - South Australia should mark the historic start of services on
the new Adelaide-Darwin railway by returning the Northern Territory's first ever locomotive,
the NT opposition said today.

The territory's first engine, The Sandfly, is currently housed at Adelaide's Keswick
rail station on the platform where The Ghan passenger service to Alice Springs departs.

The Sandfly is a Baldwin shunter, built in Philadelphia in 1886 and which worked in
Darwin for 60 years.
